La Cru Restaurant
Today we want to tell you a beautiful story, from which we too have been enraptured. It is told to us by Diego Zecchini, owner of the starred restaurant La Cru, located in Romagnano, in the heart of the Valpantena.
‘It was 1928, and in Valpantena there was already one of the most important wineries in the province of Verona, Casa Vinicola Bertani.
The year 1928 was characterised by an autumn with high temperatures, limited rainfall and a cold, dry winter. In that year it was decided to complete the fermentation of the recioto by removing the sugar part from the grapes.
Acinatico is a unique wine with an unparalleled history. The name derives from Latin acinaticum, which stands for grape or grape-seed, and is what Recioto wine was called in ancient times.
Bottling took place in 1938 in handmade bottles.
During the Second World War, the German troops stayed in the villa adjacent to the Bertani family’s winery, which decided to preserve its best wines from the relentless thirst of the Vermacht soldiers.
The bottles were moved to the family’s farmhouse in Saccole and walled up until 1984, when some workers discovered this extraordinary and now forgotten reserve of wine during some work.’
Fascinated by this incredible story, we at Extreme Printing had no choice but to bring our creativity to bear, designing a casket that would worthily enhance this extraordinary treasure.
At the request of the Michelin-starred restaurant La Cru, for the public display of these precious bottles of wine, we studied and created ad hoc packaging capable of conveying tradition, authenticity and elegance at the same time.
And so here is our proposal, studied down to the smallest detail so that it would integrate properly into an extremely refined context such as the one described above: 5 layers of 19 mm Reboard Avana, shaped with extreme precision to perfectly accommodate the bottle, embellished with a slate-coloured stretched cardboard band and printed in 4 colours plus selective white. The whole thing was glued and packaged completely by hand.
